Just a small town gal and that is all I'll ever be,
where life is just another iced sweet tea away,
where you can see the twinkling stars at night,
the wonders of the moon,
and puffy white clouds floating across the blue sky.
Welcome to my blog from the heartland, full of random musings, observations, reflections, things I love, events in my life, humor..

"Thanksgiving Day comes, by statute, once a year; to the honest man it comes as frequently as the heart of gratitude will allow." ~Edward Sandford Martin

As we read this quote, we began thinking about all that we are thankful for in our lives. We also, thought about how often we consciously realized all the many blessings we have received, not just on Thanksgiving, but every day.

My wandering mind then began contemplating all the reasons we are grateful for the small town rural lifestyle. We pondered on the many reasons to be thankful for all that Cedar Vale has to offer. One of the things that we are grateful for are the many businesses and services in Cedar Vale that are very necessary for the growth and at the very least the survival of any town. Cedar Vale also has many businesses that are based here that provide services or goods not only locally but elsewhere.

Cedar Vale is blessed to have the services and businesses that are critical for the stability of a town along with it's growth. It has the basic necessities; grocery store, pharmacy, convenience store/gas station, restaurant, health clinic, doctor, bank, library, a weekly newspaper, hairstyling salons, boutique, daycare, motel, hunting lodges, car repair, construction, feed mill, ranches, police and fire protection, and so much more. We know there are home based businesses as well. All of these provide a solid base for small town living. We appreciate all of those businesses, the services that they provide plus the convenience of being able to shop locally.

One is thankful for the organizations, the churches and the schools. They are all a major factor for a community to prosper.

We are grateful for the community as a whole that comes together to help others in need. A place where people are there for their neighbors in good times and in times of need, are more accepting, where life is slower and less stressful and the commonality of the people who love the small town lifestyle.

We are thankful that we have no traffic jams, unless one counts getting behind the occasional piece of farm equipment being moved from one field to another.

The beauty of the location of our town is a breath of fresh air for most of us who treasure and value our town. All of this is and more is nestled in the beautiful valley and the hills of the Chautauqua hills. For all of this we are truly blessed.

“Gratitude can transform common days into Thanksgiving, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” — William Arthur Ward

Small pleasures, daily joys, add up to many reasons to be thankful
From my home to yours, wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving

Until we meet next time on this dusty trail of life.....Happy Trails!
